At Hills Bank, we enjoy being a financial advisor and resource for the communities we serve. Through a partnership with education technology company EverFi, the Hills Bank Financial Education Program is empowering students in Iowa with the knowledge and skills they need to take control of their financial future.
Working with Educators and Students
The Hills Bank Financial Education Program includes two to eight hours of classroom instruction through an interactive online learning platform for elementary, middle, and high school students. In two years, we have reached over 2,000 students in nearly 30 schools throughout the Corridor.
This program provides high quality instruction and real-life simulations to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation. EverFi has received recognition for its role in providing financial education. In 2015, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) highlighted EverFi’s programs in a report on Advancing K-12 Financial Education.
Vault – Understanding MoneyTM (Elementary/Middle School)
The elementary/middle school course uses simulation and gaming technologies to introduce financial literacy skills early in a child’s cognitive development. The 2.5-hour curriculum aligns with state and national standards and includes topics such as saving, budgeting, responsibility and decision-making, credit and debt, careers, income, and charity.
EverFi – Financial EducationTM (High School)
This eight-hour web-based program uses the latest in new media technology to address advanced financial concepts. The platform uniquely tracks the progress and performance of every student and provides students who successfully complete the course with certification in financial literacy—a valuable mark of distinction on college applications and resumes.
